Find Clarity Without Putting your Life on Hold

You’re juggling so many roles, it’s hard to even catch your breath. One moment you’re answering work emails late into the night, the next you’re trying to hold together a relationship that feels more like another job than a source of support.

Your calendar is stuffed—meetings, deadlines, family responsibilities—and somehow, your own needs never seem to make the cut. You’ve got ambition, dreams, goals... but lately, even those feel exhausting. There’s a constant pressure to perform, to stay on top, to not fall behind. And all the while, you're asking yourself: Is this it? Is this really what success is supposed to feel like?

You’re in the right place if you resonate with any of these…

  • Carving out time for therapy feels laughable when you barely have time to finish a thought before someone else needs something from you.

  • You’re just powering through your days, hoping that maybe next week will be different.

  • You try to decompress, but even your downtime feels like another item on a to-do list.

  • You’re drained—mentally, emotionally, relationally.

  • You catch yourself zoning out during conversations, biting your tongue in meetings, wondering when you stopped feeling connected to the people around you... or to yourself.

  • Maybe you’ve thought about therapy before but brushed it off because it just felt like “one more thing.”

What if therapy could be the one space where you get to be the priority? A place to unload the pressure, process the overwhelm, and get clarity—about your career, your relationships, and most of all, yourself

You don’t have to keep white-knuckling your way through. You don’t have to stay stuck in the grind. There’s a way through this—and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Online therapy is a game-changer

When your life feels like a nonstop balancing act, the idea of squeezing one more appointment into your week feels like a cruel joke. But it doesn’t have to. With telehealth sessions, you don’t have to battle traffic, rearrange your whole day, or show up somewhere with your hair done and your life together. You can log in from your couch, your car, even your office during your lunch break. No commuting. No extra stress. Just a quiet hour carved out just for you.

Online therapy makes it easier to actually show up for yourself—especially when showing up feels hard. It offers flexibility without sacrificing depth. And for someone who’s constantly “on” in their career and relationships, that accessibility can be the difference between staying stuck and finally getting the support you’ve needed for way too long.

Hey, I’m Dr. Rachel.

I’m so happy you’re here.

Starting with a therapist can be daunting. But it doesn’t have to be.

I want you to know that I don’t take the convenience of telehealth for granted. Here’s what you can expect when working with me:

  • Engagement in each and every session.

  • Encouragement and support, because I know change is hard and scary.

  • Challenge, but in a helpful way. We both know you came here to evolve.

  • Accountability for the goals you set for yourself.

Now is the perfect time to get clear on what you want to do, who you want to be, and how you want to live.

It’s your life; ready to embrace it?

Therapy Focus Areas

I work with individuals and couples in a virtual setting, especially helping with:

If you don’t fall into one of these categories, but you still resonate with my style, let’s still chat.

My Process

01.

Schedule Your Free Consultation Call

Start by filling out the contact form using the button below. I’ll follow up via email with a link to my calendar so you can choose a time that works for you. During our 20-minute phone call, we’ll discuss your goals, I’ll ask a few background questions to assess fit, and you’ll have a chance to ask me anything you'd like about the therapy process.

02.

Begin with a Personalized First Session

If we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule your first full session. This session is all about gathering the information I need to understand your background, concerns, and goals. Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs and preferences, setting the foundation for our work together.

03.

Ongoing Sessions Focused on Your Goals

In follow-up sessions, we’ll begin working toward the goals we identified using the therapeutic approaches we agreed upon. I typically recommend weekly sessions at first to build momentum and recognize patterns, but I’ll always collaborate with you to find a rhythm that fits your life.

Why Online Therapy?

Therapy online offers many benefits to my clients and I have found that those willing to give it a chance end up falling in love with it very quickly.

Convenience - you can schedule an appointment that works for your schedule and not have to worry about adding in commute time or dealing with traffic. This leads to no gas costs and limited time off work needed to accommodate a therapy session.

Comfort - from the comfort of your own space, be it home, car, or the office, people tend to enjoy being in a familiar environment while trying to be vulnerable and lean into the discomfort that can come up with therapy.

Connection - wherever you are, we can connect online for therapy. Even if you take a vacation to visit another gorgeous part of these great states and you would like a therapy hour, we can do it.

Confidentiality - Some people get discouraged from seeking counseling services due to the possibility of being seen walking into or out of a therapy clinic. Therapy online removes this barrier for people - it’s fully up to you to disclose to others that you are in therapy. Of note, all of the platforms that I use in my practice are HIPAA compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Actually, YES! There is more and more research showing that online therapy (AKA Telehealth) works just as effectively as in-person counseling. There will be even more research coming out showing its effectiveness since all therapists were forced to switch to Telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, it is up to you and your personality style if you are interested in online therapy. Some people still feel more comfortable or would prefer an in-office therapist and that is just fine. We are all different! However, Better Balance Psychology is an all-online therapy service.

  • Convenience! Meet with Dr. Rachel DuPaul at a time that works for you in the location of your choice from your phone, tablet, or computer. No commute or parking fees!

  • I primarily work with adults who are struggling in their career or their relationship which results in a lot of stress. These topics are highly conducive for telehealth sessions. Other related concerns that are frequently discussed in my sessions include perfectionism, self-esteem, codependency, and people-pleasing.

  • Many people worry that they will not get a strong emotional bond with their online therapist across a screen. However, most clients who try telehealth do not struggle with this at all. In fact, some even report feeling MORE comfortable because they are physically located in their own environment.

The most important aspect of any mental health counseling is that there is a good fit between you and your counselor’s personality and communication style. You must feel comfortable, otherwise you will not likely get any benefit. This is the same for online counseling just as it is for in-person therapy.

  • Just like with any clinic and provider, there are limitations to online therapy’s effectiveness. Certain mental health concerns are harder to assess and treat through the computer. Some examples include:

    • Disordered eating patterns

    • Substance abuse

    • Seeing or hearing things that are not actually there

    • Active suicidal thoughts

These are all issues that would be better supported with a specialist housed in a clinic or hospital setting. Please see my disclaimer here for more info.

  • Yes, I use all HIPAA-compliant software and storage including extra protections through my video program (Zoom + SecureVideo), my records system, and my email platform. Your confidentiality and privacy are still of utmost importance to me even though we are meeting online.

  • A computer with both a camera and microphone are recommended, though a smart-phone will work, too. Also needed are a well-lit room, limited distractions, and strong internet connection. It’s recommended that you and others in your location limit the amount of internet bandwidth (e.g., streaming, surfing, etc) you are using at the time of your therapy appointment to get the best results possible.
